The new bailed Van Staal X-Series Spinning Reel is a completely sealed and waterproof reel machined out of aeronautics grade 6061-T6 aluminum, with a solid titanium shaft, hardened stainless steel main gear and pinion, and a patented waterproof sealed drag.

The new X-Series Reels maintain all the features that earned Van Staal it's reputation while offering two exciting improvements. "VSX" reels now have the X-Wrap oscillation system that lays the line flat and this has two benefits one is improved casting distance and the other is increased line capacity particularly when using braided line. The other X Series improvement concerns the drag system. The thread count and pitch has been increased and this results in a greater drag range than on the VS models.
