And the Legend Continues! The Shimano Saragosa Spinning Reels have remained a workhorse for years, whether you're targeting stripers & blues in the surf, jigging for snapper and grouper in the gulf coast, or targeting pelagics offshore, this reel has been used throughout the country for just about everything.
For 2020, Shimano introduced several new technologies to reel to keep and enhance its workhorse status. Like the previous model, sealing is a must especially for saltwater environments and this reel keeps up with that commitment. Its new cross carbon drag is IPX8 rated, allowing this reel to take abuse, splashes, and dunks and maintain that out-of-the-box feel for the long haul.
The new Hagane Body has also been compacted down and cut in weight, giving the reel an even better feeling on more modern-day rods so you are easily able to use them all day.
Infinity Drive improves the actual winding experience through the use of a new main shaft supporting structure to eliminate friction within the pinion gear. This reduces winding torque by nearly 26%, giving the new Saragosa an incredibly light and smooth rotation of the handle.
Hagane Gearing: A cold foraged gear set for the heart of reel, assisting with gear durability, longevity, strength, and smoothness.
Infinity Drive: A design where the pinion gear inner does not make contact with the main shaft, as a high-sliding bushing supports the main shaft. With this new structure, the sliding resistance of the main shaft is drastically reduced.

Overall best reel on the market and part of my setups. I have 3. It’s reputation, performance, durability and value says everything you need to know. With the respective braid line you like to use… I don’t think you can spend $300.00 any better. I dunk this, I reel underwater I do everything I do with my Van Staal. Still going. The VS is a tank and takes a beating. The Saragossa although not built like a VS. it’s just as good. Just a different reel. This Gosa depending what size you get is great for any saltwater fishing the everyday man or woman does.
Shimano made the new Saragossa better then the old one. Best reel for the money
Couldn’t be happier with the 6000. It has proven itself over 3 seasons of serious use. It’s been dunked and dropped and pulled in many and some larger fish. Drag has been solid and consistent and the line lay is very good. Sometimes you get what you pay for and in this case you get a bit more than what you pay for. It’s a shimano so it’s plenty smooth as well.
The Shimano Shimano Saragossa Family of reels is the best Buck for the money. They catch also catch Big Fish and I can verify that All day long . From the 5000/6000 to the 25,000 I only have good things to say. Grab one today before their gone.
