Fall Fishing Reflections: Stripers, Albies, and Sharks — The Crew Recaps the Season
It’s been a wild fall for New England anglers. From kayak flips and shark encounters to epic albie runs and topwater tuna, the Saltwater Edge crew got together to break down one of the most interesting seasons in recent memory.
Highlights from the Season
- Striped Bass: A strong early summer bite and resident fish close to shore made for memorable surf and kayak sessions. Six-inch Super Strike Needles and big plastics dominated.
- Albies & Bonito: A much better showing than last year — orange and amber epoxy jigs, Super Snacks, and Hogy Heavy Minnows got the job done.
- Sharks & Exotics: From threshers chasing jigs to tropical aquarium species in local waters, this season had surprises everywhere.
- Tuna Time: Short but sweet offshore runs delivered life-changing moments for several of the crew.
Color, Confidence & the Fall Run
One of the big debates this year was color versus profile. From parrot darters to all-black plugs, confidence lures still proved key. As the fall run continues, darker nights, colder temps, and migrating baitfish make the next few weeks prime time for tog, blues, and late-season albies.
