I decided to replace the treble hooks on all my plugs with the inline VMC single hooks. The hooks along the body were placed with the hook points at the front of the lure, and the tail hook with the hook point at the back of the lure so body hooks and tail hooks face different directions. Some upgrades were necessary with some of the split rings to strengthen the connection and allow for better fit with the heavier VMC 4x hook eye. If the body hooks on the lures were attached to swivels I chose to leave them alone as was afraid the single replacement hook could swivel away from a fish and may prevent some hook ups.
I think I get more hits now with the replacement hooks, possibly due to the dark color and smaller profile of the hooks that may be less visible in the water. Unhooking fish from a replacement hook is usually much easier now, especially in the dark, and much better for a speedy release as well.
