Shimano Tranx Baitcasting Reels are perfect for a wide variety of saltwater and freshwater species thanks to a capable line capacity and drag range.
Low profile baitcasting reels in saltwater continue to grow as a segment, largely due to this reel. Tranx is a lot of fishing fighting capability that literally sits in the palm of your hand.
With multiple gear ratios, sizes, and offered in left and right hand retrieve, there is a Tranx in the lineup for any fishing style requiring strength and power in a small package.
Tranx Size 200 reels are a perfect match for any situation requiring torque in small packages. While the smallest in the lineup, the 200 is still well equipped to tackle inshore salt environments as well as launching crankbaits and swimbaits from coast to coast. This particular size is also perfect for a small, lightweight setup for inshore jigging when paired with a light rod and line.
Tranx Size 300 bumps up the capacity, size, and beefiness that has been tried and tested in multiple saltwater environments. A perfect size for casting plugs into feeding blitzes and inshore rips to throwing swimbaits and jigs for smaller tarpon and snook, the Tranx 300 is destined to handle powerful beasts inshore.
Tranx Size 400 is the largest of the series capable of handling trophy muskie up north to easily winding in massive topwater plugs and cobia jigs. When fishing a Tranx 400, there are few species out of reach of this powerhouse. With a low gear option of 5.8:1 for serious torque to a high speed 7.6:1 for burning in plugs, there is not a nearshore fish capable of defeating this tank of a saltwater baitcaster.

I purchased the Tranx 301HG last season and have used it for striper, sea bass, tautog and a couple fluke. Super smooth and powerful with that awesome cranking handle. I loved it so much I've gone back and added the Tranx 401HG on Shimano Teramar XX from SWE. You'll love it
Super smooth powerhouse
I absolutely love these reels!! I caught so many Big Striped Bass with them! A real workhorse of a reel. I highly recommend these reels!
