The Shimano Spheros SW reels are well known for their ability to subdue some serious saltwater game fish and withstand the saltiest of environments while still coming at an affordable price.  Coming in at more of inshore/light tackle sizes, the Spheros SW inshore is packed full of Shimano's proprietary reel technologies while still coming at an affordable price.

Internally, the Spheros SW inshore features Shimano's Cold Foraged Hagane Gearing to ensure that the reel will last many seasons of fish fighting, while retaining the smoothness Shimano is well known for.  Throughout the reel Shimano has treated it with their CoreProtect coating which gives the reel water resistance in the key areas to prevent water intrusion.  The Cross Carbon drag system allows the angler to put down smooth and reliable stopping power against big striped bass, bluefish, albies and many other gamefish we see here in the Northeast.

I recommend this product
Great Reel for a Great Price!

I recently purchased this reel as an albie reel for my wife and I could help but to notice how strikingly smooth this reel was even compared to my Stradic FL5000. I can’t wait until she hooks into a speed demon with this beautiful reel. Always great help at The Saltwater Edge

Very smooth, short money reel

Bought for a jigging rod for scup and seabass. Not a shimano guy but wanted something inexpensive for jigging. paired this with tsunami slow pitch, whole set up is a bout a pound so shoudl be great for longer days and getting the kids out. Im a penn guy but this reel is very smooth by comparison. I recently got a battle 3 and would say initial feel is a bit smoother on the shimano side. will update after we grab the first seabass.

Like it better than my saltist back bay

Lighter, smoother retrieve and drag, and stronger than my saltist back bay 3k. I'm a shimano believer now. This is one mean little reel.
