Shimano's Gravitator 220SS ratchets glide bait technology to the next level, featuring innovative design enhancements that provide unique on-water utility and unparalleled performance. Equipped with ARMABOOST technology, the Gravitator 220SS improves casting distance over conventional designs by folding the lure into a more aerodynamic form during flight — reducing air resistance for smoother, longer casts. Upon water impact it seamlessly unfolds, delivering a natural, wide-sweeping swimming motion.
A standout feature is the Action Modifying Insert — remove it for a choppier, tighter action, or insert it into the joint to limit range of motion and create a broader, more controlled glide. This single adjustment changes the entire personality of the bait, making the Gravitator effective across a wide range of conditions and fish behavior.
Six models are available — three featuring FLASH BOOST, with reflective foil on micro springs that emit internal pulsing flash even when the bait is sitting still, and three featuring SCALE BOOST, a holographic 3D film that captures the realistic appearance of baitfish scales. Both technologies draw strikes from followers and pressured fish alike.
At 8⅔" (220mm) and 3⅜ oz (95g), this slow-sinking glide bait is an imposing presence in the water — purpose-built for targeting trophy largemouth and smallmouth on grass flats, ledges, points, and open water. Part of Shimano's Big Bass System, it pairs with heavy swimbait rods and 20–30 lb fluorocarbon or braided line.
