Known to some as the 'Batman' spinning reel from Shimano due to its blacked-out coloration, the Shimano Exsence Spinning Reels comes back in 2021 a full ounce lighter than its predecessor.

This reel takes Shimano's technology to the fullest, striking a balance between intelligent design and durability that anglers demand every time they hit the water.  An MGL rotor was added to the 2021 model, giving the angler a feather-lite to almost non-existent feel to every rotation of the handle.  Connection to the lure for quick start-and-stop retrieval of soft plastics, jigs, jerkbaits, and other plugs is given, providing more responsive feedback to the angler.

It's extremely light and durable magnesium Hagane body eliminates flex and provides the outer layer that is needed to sustain efficiency and power transmission throughout the lifetime of the reel.  Hagane gearing sits at the heart of this reel, providing supreme durability for long-lasting performance.

Features:

  • MGL Rotor
  • MicroModule Gear II
  • Magnesium Hagane Body
  • X-Protect
  • Rapid Fire Drag

Hagane Gearing:  A cold foraged gear set for the heart of reel, assisting with gear durability, longevity, strength, and smoothness.

Shimano X-Protect

X-Protect:  Similarly seen in Stella SW C, the new TwinPower SW employs X-Protect for its line roller as well and further improves its waterproofing performance.

The new structure protects bearings inside
the line roller from the harsh saltwater environment and bearing durability is ten times greater than conventional designs.

Micro Module II Gearing:  The most advanced gear technology Shimano has done to date.  Its Shimano's pursuit at the ideal shape of each gear tooth, which ultimately provides for less gear noise and improves smoothness.

Silent Drive: Implemented to eliminate any looseness, gaps, and vibrations between components in the drive section as well as others.  This provides for tighter tolerances, less play, more comfort, and a quieter if not silent reel.
