Daiwa Saltist Spinning Reels are the place to turn when you need a saltwater spinning reel with a fast retrieve rate, with some models featuring a retrieve rate as high as 49 inches per turn! The new Saltist is also lighter and smoother than its predecessor and continues with forward with simple, durable features for greater strength and reliability.
The addition of Magseal Magnetic Oil to the line roller and main shaft results in smooth performance and the new Air Rotor and Air Bail have shaved significant weight. Dual full time anti-reverse, sealed waterproof drag, and a machined alumnium handle round out the package. All models have a manual bail to avoid the infamous "bail flip" that plagues many reels resulting in lost lures.

Got this reel virtually overnight. They shipped same day. So I put some 30lb. braid on it with a fluorocarbon leader, 15lb.. With a new St. Croix 9’ rod, this set up felt seriously balanced. The local beach bite was on. I have hit keeper bass and cowboy blues every weekend since I put this set up together at sun up. What a great year for surf fishing. The Daiwa Saltist has an excellent, smooth, easy to adjust drag. The pick up on retrieve is plenty fast enough to bring in sport fish. I would buy another for my son if he would fish more with me. Another thing about Daiwa and why I chose to spend a fair amount of money on their product. I still have my first Daiwa spinning reel from a trip to Martha’s Vineyard in 1979. It is a light saltwater, heavy freshwater reel. They still stock parts for this reel and CUSTOMER SUPPORT is second to none.
Man, I have to say, this is the best reel i have, it has everything I need to plug in the surf, strong, some what sealed, gets a few splashes, no problem, close to 300yrs of 30lb braid. I also have to mention Saltwater Edge, these guys are great, made several purchases,no problems with any of my orders and very fast shipping, I just recently ordered a ODM rod on Sunday and it was on porch on Wednesday afternoon, the packaging was perfect
Excellent drag. Did some surf fishing and the reels got completely submerged in saltwater several times. So far so good!
Smoothest and durable reel ever.
