The Daiwa Lexa HD Casting Reels are the next generation of the Lexa series. Featuring an improved and beefed up clutch design, both big bait and bottom fisherman will love this new generation. With a Stainless Drive Gear & Pinion Gear being housed in an Aluminum Frame, Daiwa has made a reel thats both light and durable while coming in a compact package. An extended counter balanced handle suits this reel and finishes out the design, allowing the angler to put down maximum power and torque, which this reel is meant to do.
For many of us in the Northeast, this reel will perform well for those targeting tautog, fluke, seabass and other bottom dwellers as its a simple press of the thumb bar puts your bait right back into the strike zone. The most hard fighting blackfish will not phase this reel with its stainless gearing. Freshwater bass anglers will also approve of the stainless gearing when chucking large swimbaits.

The reel proved to be a perfect match for the Nantucket Fluke and Seabass adventure this Monday. Still small but powerful and worked well with my John Skinner bounce and jig fluke rod. It had plenty of power to bring up nice fish and handle 16 ounce sinkers.
