When spending long days on the water, the Daiwa® Legalis LT Spinning Reel is a great choice. The Legalis reel is built on Daiwa's Light and Tough platform, with a Carbon Light Body that's extremely lightweight yet durable with advanced Air Rotor and Air Bail technology. The Legalis has superior strength-to-weight ratio that gives you the advantage as the day wears on, with solid performance all around. Equipped with first-generation Digigear™ internals for perfect mesh on every retrieve, a smooth 5+1 bearing system, ATD Automatic Tournament Drag for consistent performance from hookset to landing, and Daiwa's compact Machine Cut Handle design that weighs 50% less than the standard handle for that size reel, with no loss of power or performance!

So far I've been using this reel in the salt for tog. It handles the fish fine but I haven't put it to the test against any larger specimens. The drag is a bit sticky at this level and I don't think the reel is direct drive. With that said just spend the extra and get a BG, Nasci or Spheros for just a little more money. These all have smooth drags and direct drive. I see 2 maybe 3 seasons out of it, fishing several days weekly for 7 months
