The Backwater Custom Baits Poison Tail Jigs are a hand-tied jig designed for bottom fish we see here in the Northeast like Fluke & Seabass. Each jig starts off with a 2x Strong Mustad 6/0 Black Nickel Sickle hook, designed for strength, and to mitigate thrown hooks due to its bend. A premium 60 strand custom skirt material is hand-tied using stainless steel wire to withstand the most powerful of headshakes big doormats give and are well known for. Top-quality powder coatings and epoxies finish the jig off, as well as adhesive eyes to provide even more realism to the offering.
The Poison Tail Jig is designed to be fished with baits like the Berkley Gulp! Saltwater Grubs, Berkley Gulp! Saltwater Swimming Mullets, and Berkley Gulp! Nemesis 6.5". The jigs provide for a bit more body profile, motion, and a gripping point when releasing fish amongst many other elements that make this jig have the countless 10+ doormats under its belt. The forward line tie works very well with dropper/chicken rigs, whether it be above a bucktail or sinker, as the bait sits flatter and more parallel to the seafloor where fluke call home.
Backwater Custom Baits are known as the original custom silicone skirted fluke jig and football styled tog jigs. Many Northeast charter captains rely on both to get their clients on fish and they have proven themselves to tame the biggest fluke and tog respectively.

I had used poison tails charter fishing for fluke at Nantucket Sholes,I finally decided to try them where I primarily fish in coastal New Jersey.I hope they work as well here. The product itself is nice, skirts match all the good gulp colors. Did them up as popcorn rigs.
Thanks for your follow up. I truly appreciate the service that Saltwater Edge provided on my recent purchase of Custom Baits Poison Tail jigs. I didn’t get the chance to use them yet because it is still Winter here in NJ. I used them last year and they worked great on Fluke and Seabass. Can’t wait to use them in a few months and will most likely purchase more. Tom
I got these to use as teasers in a bucktail and teaser rig or popcorn rig and I have been more than satisfied. The silicone skirt is generous, not skimpy. The hook is beefy enough to handle big fish, and long enough with a wide enough gap to accommodate a 6” Gulp or Doormatadorz grub. They come in a good assortment of colors. I mostly use the flashier colors like chartreuse and pink, but I also did very well with the New Penny, maybe because it's a good sea robin imitation. Whatever the fish think they are, they catch fluke and sea bass.
I orderd two to see if i liked them. You sent one. Its a good teaser though. But i paid for another one.
