ODM D.N.A. Surf Rods sit at the crossroads of performance and value. It's tough to get more for your money then this.
Modern surf rods are just getting better and better, and as they do technology trickles down to lower price points. ODM's D.N.A. Surf Rods are extremely light but durable while packing the power to handle big fish. Versatile tapers are ideal both for throwing a variety of lures, and then when you hook up they have perfect fish fighting action. This level of performance not long ago came with a much higher price tag.

I ordered my 9’ D.N.A. a little over a week ago and SWE got it to me in two days! I have already broken it in with everything from a 1/2 oz bucktail to a 4oz glider and everything in between. It seems like for me the sweet spot was between 3/4 oz to 2 1/2oz. The plugs and tins that I threw in this size range really launched like rockets. The rod definitely handled bigger plugs as well, but just took a little more effort in the cast. The rod is extremely light and very sensitive but also has a lot of backbone. Well made with quality components. The guides are all top grade and the reel seat is an ergo style that fits my VS150 perfectly. The split paco grips feel great without adding much weight. Definitely a great value, basically as close to a custom rod as you can get and at a great price. I would highly recommend this rod to anyone looking for an excellent 9 foot rod. Thanks again to the SWE team for the absolutely fantastic service!
Great overall surf rod. I've got it paired with my Van Stall VS 200. Casts up to 3oz incredibly well...around 3oz and over you've got to put some back into it, in my experience. It's got decent backbone...I've landed bass up to 20 lb in the surf and it handled them pretty well. For the money you can't beat this product! Had I paid $400+ for it, I'd probably rate it 4 stars just on the lack of serious fighting power and ability to cast the larger plugs up to 4oz. I highly recommend for any surfcaster who is looking to purchase a good quality rod under the $300 price point.
I picked up this rod to throw larger plugs and land larger bass. I've been doing both this spring, throwing 4oz pikies and recently landed a personal best 46" bass. I'm really happy with the casting action of the rod. It's fast while maintaining some feeling. It takes more power to load than a moderate rod but with a plug around 2oz and good form, it flies. There is plenty of power to land large fish quickly to get them back in the water with minimal stress.
Cannot wait to use this rod. Super light, yet sturdy. Paired with a Shimano Stradic 5000. Thanks to the staff at SWE for the help creating this setup!
