The Shimano Spheros SW reels are well known for their ability to subdue some serious saltwater game fish and withstand the saltiest of environments while still coming at an affordable price. Coming in at more of inshore/light tackle sizes, the Spheros SW inshore is packed full of Shimano's proprietary reel technologies while still coming at an affordable price.
Internally, the Spheros SW inshore features Shimano's Cold Foraged Hagane Gearing to ensure that the reel will last many seasons of fish fighting, while retaining the smoothness Shimano is well known for. Throughout the reel Shimano has treated it with their CoreProtect coating which gives the reel water resistance in the key areas to prevent water intrusion. The Cross Carbon drag system allows the angler to put down smooth and reliable stopping power against big striped bass, bluefish, albies and many other gamefish we see here in the Northeast.
Features:
-Hagane Gearing -Core Protect
-Hagane Body -Cross Carbon Drag
-X-Ship -S A-RB Bearings

Wasnt super impressed, nice reel but has resistance while trying to reel and needs a larger handle.
First, I love this reel. I’ve used it surf fishing in Mexico for 2 seasons and it is smooth as butter when reeling in fish. Nothing big so far, but I have no doubt it will perform flawlessly for anything I catch from the Sea of Cortez and other waters I’ll fish. My only concern is that it doesn’t fling the bait or lures quite as far as I would’ve expected. I realize the spool setup is not like long distance casting reels, but hoped it would be a bit farther without having to put all my weight into it. I except that many things go into distance casting including the rod, line and technique so I imagine it’s not just the reel. In any case, the reel is far superior to any reel in this price range and many that are more expensive and for what you pay, you get a great reel. Unless something breaks down unexpectedly, I’ll likely buy more of these reels, sized to different rods and fishing locations.
Haventbused the reel yet but i have an older generation version that i love and still use...shipping was quick now i just gotta find the time to fish
Solid reel, almost a Stradik fk minus couple bearings which I added from shimano site.
