I was a little skeptical about venturing away from my go-to rods, but I was not disappointed once I started using my Tsunami Carbon Shield II. I paired the 7’6” medium-heavy with one of my kastking megatron 4000s and it is an absolute match made in heaven. It casts amazing, it is perfectly balanced and is incredibly sensitive along with being an absolute workhorse for the big Chesapeake Bay stripers. I love the fit and finish of the rod and having the aluminum reel seat gave me even more confidence with big hook sets and blowups stripers are notorious for. If you are on the fence about this rod, please rest assured that you will not be disappointed with any aspect of the Carbon Shield II. I know that I am definitely sold and I will be replacing all of my saltwater setups over to the Carbon Shield II in the next year. SWE, get ready for some more orders!
This was the 2nd carbon shield II I have purchased from SWE. I now have a 7’6” MH and a 7’6’ M. These rods are incredible. I will pick these over any of my St. Croix, penn, toadfish or G-loomis rods. Slowly replacing my saltwater quiver and the carbon shields will be the replacements for all of my inshore rods. Take the plunge because you will not be disappointed with any of the carbon sheild II rods.
Have taken this rod on a couple trips now and have only good things to say. Great action, smooth guides and you can tell it has a good back bone. I picked up the 701MH.
Picked this up recently for next Spring fluke/weakfish/sea bass. Took it out for some test casting. Rod rated 3/8-3/4. Threw half ounce to one ounce bucktails well. Surprised by the sensitivity. First fast action rod I've used and quite happy with the results. Will update when I put some fish on it. As usual, great service from SWE.
