The Cotton Cordell Pencil Popper is a standard lure of coastal surf fishermen everywhere, these pencil poppers are designed to deliver super-long casts. A weighted tail section on this pencil popper makes it sit "tail down" making the action even better than most plastic pencil poppers. Some fishermen even weight them further for increased distance and ability to punch into a headwind.
Been using the bone color and CRUSHING bass. Hands down the best lure for the money and I know for a fact it out fishes any lure my buddies fish whenever we fish together.
These are well known lures and definitely catch fish! The one downfall is casting distance. They’re fairly light, hence the attractive price point, and therefore don’t cast all that far. Other than that, they’re awesome.
Fish love these in the back bays. I change out the belly treble to a 1-2/0 4X VMC and a 3/0 rear single and it works great.
