Hogy Lures Epoxy Jigs are an updated version of the very effective and discontinued Viva Parade Maria Jigs. Both the original and the Hogy are deadly on a large number of species but they're definitely a weapon of choice for false albacore, bonito, skipjack, and bluefin tuna.
The factory VMC treble is surprisingly durable on hardtails but if your targets are above 20 pounds you might consider upgrading to a heavy duty single. Try their "Heavy" Minnowwhen conditions are really rough and the standard Epoxy Jig can't quite stay in the water or you need extended range.
Needed to supplement my dwindling stock of my favorite albie lure, the Hogy epoxy jig in, again, the popular anchovy color which usually sells out once the albies are around. This albie season, I've found the Hogy Epoxy jig, particularly in the Anchovy and Olive colors, to be really great fish catchers! The albies are responding to these colors each time I've gotten out there, fishing from shore. Most of our shore bait this year is the anchovy and that color Hogy was being used by one of the most successful fishermen on the beach. He recommended the anchovy color and SWE had it in stock! Great lures.
Just like all of the other Hogy products, the epoxy jig is another great lure. I didn't catch anything yet, but that's also because I haven't fished that much this season. Great lures, can't go wrong with them!
United StatesI’ve been using the epoxy jigs for a while now and recently found the long distance metal ones. My casts now go another 25ft farther and because of that I was able to land so many more Stripers and Albies this season.
