Larry's Lurz Casting Eggs

29 reviews
Egg Size: Small

The casting egg is a great tool when the bait is small. Using one allows you to throw extremely light lures and flies long distances, using your spinning gear.

When the bass are on a specific bait like sand eels, anchovies, or cinder worms, it can be extremely difficult to catch them on anything much bigger. The casting egg solves that problem.

The "small" varies slightly from egg to egg due to variations in the wood but the "small" is generally around 1 ounce. The weight of the "large" egg varies due to variations in the wood but generally weighs in around 2 ounces. Match appropriately to your gear.

We are often asked, "What is the screw for?" Use it if your rig is tumbling through the air when you cast. If it is there's a good chance it will be tangled on the retrieve. Put the fly or jig on the screw to mitigate the tumbling. Before you do that consider shortening or stiffening the leader.
