From one of the highest quality bucktail jig manufacturers around, Jecks Bucktails has expanded into the tog jig market with an offering to tame the hardest fighting Tautog in the Northeast. The SUPA-BEAST Tog Jigs have been developed around a super sticky sharp & heavy gauge wire tinned Gamakatsu hook. This tog jig is designed to sit perfectly on the bottom with the crab facing its adversary in the most enticing way. With this jig, it is safe to say that no Tautog is safe.

These are my favorite tog jigs other than the ones I cast for myself. I like the length and strength of the hook. You don’t have to clean the knuckles off after every miss like you do with a short shanked hook. This helps when the bite finally goes off. They also hold a crab a little better than a round bend. Use the lightest you can tend bottom with. If the bite stops try a different color.
I typically use a 3 way, foot and a half leader, and hook fishing for tog. This is my first season using Jigs and won't be my last. They worked well.
I tried using the 3 0z jig on a recent charter trip. Guys using standard rigs were catching more fish than me. Captain though the hooks on the Jigs were a little on the large size? I'm hoping to go once more and try using the jigs for longer periods of time
Very good jig. Big strong hook is great when you find a nice sized run of fish. When the fish aren’t aggressive it can be a little too big, but because of the way it sits and pivots on the nibble, it usually catches very well. Use the lightest size you can tend bottom with and change colors when they start getting wise.
