Yak Hair

1 review
Color: Black

Yak hair is fast becoming the natural material of choice for fly tiers who want to make larger more life-like flies.

Yak hair has a sheen similar to Polar Bear its a solid hair, not hollow like bucktail, so it doesn't absorb much water and casts very well. It holds its shape  providing a large profile for flies such as herring, bunker and mullet. It can be stacked and trimmed just like EP or other synthetic fibers.

The slight wave in yak hair also helps "move water" the way a real bait fish would, and with it being a natural hair when its gets wet it softens making long tails flow.

This material is excellent for all types of saltwater patterns and big predator flies.
