Tsunami Carbon Shield II Casting Rod

Model: TSCSHDCII661H-B

Tsunami Carbon Shield II Casting Rod

D16 nanotech blank. Fuji K-Guides. IM7 graphite construction.

The Tsunami Carbon Shield II Casting Rod is the inshore casting rod built on Tsunami's D16 nanotech blank technology — multi-directional layers of IM7 carbon fiber injected with nano resin and wrapped in 8 different angles for the kind of evenly dispersed flexural force that produces a lightweight, twist-resistant, hoop-strong blank. Fuji K-Guides with Fazlite inserts handle braid friction cleanly and reduce wind knots. Three models cover Heavy through Extra-Heavy power in 6'6" and 7' lengths — the right rod whether you're casting soft plastics to Northeast striped bass or live-baiting for redfish in the south.

Key Features

  • D16 Nanotech blank — 8-angle IM7 carbon fiber for twist resistance and hoop strength
  • Feather-light blank with no sacrifice in strength
  • Fuji K-Guides with Fazlite inserts — tangle-free, braid-optimized
  • One-piece construction for sensitivity and durability
  • Designed for inshore casting applications across regions
  • Three power options to match your target species

Rigging & Use

  • 6'6" Heavy: shorter casts in tight quarters, jetty corner work — medium conventional reel
  • 7' Heavy: the everyday inshore casting rod — soft plastics, plugs, live bait
  • 7' Extra-Heavy: bigger lures, heavier rigs, deeper structure work
  • Pair with a Penn Fathom 15-class or Daiwa Lexa-class conventional reel
  • Spool 30-50 lb braid with 30-50 lb fluoro leader

Why We Like It

Casting rods (conventional reel pairing) are less common than spinning rods in the inshore Northeast, but they have advantages for soft-plastic work and live-baiting — better line control, better hooksets, less line twist on long fights. The Carbon Shield II's D16 Nanotech blank tech is the same flagship line Tsunami uses across their premium series, and at $99-$129 it's an excellent price-to-performance pick. The 6'6" Heavy is the right pick for tight-quarter jetty soft plastic work.
