Redesigned and upgraded to a new generation, the Daiwa Saltist MQ Spinning Reelstake giant leaps into new technologies and manufacturing capabilities, stepping into a new range of sizes due to Daiwa's MQ frame (Monocoque Body) design.
Daiwa's MQ frame allows for a much larger gear set to be added to each reel as well as 360-degree screw-in side plates. The MQ frame is essentially a one-piece body design, eliminating the traditional side plate and replacing it with what they call an "engine plate", screwing into the reel directly. The traditional side plate and many screws that come along with it are eliminated, therefore giving more room to fit larger gears and fewer entry points for sand, water, grime and debris from entering the reel, prolonging its life and giving the user more time to think of fishing, rather than the maintenance of their reel.
The Saltist MQ utilizes a Zaion Air Rotor, giving it effortless rotation and balance with every turn of the handle. Its Zaion Rotor is perfectly complimented with its hollow stainless steel bailAir Bail, delivering maximum rigidity and strength with minimal added weight. At the heart of this reel sits Tough Digigears, a machine-cut gearing system that gives ultimate gear precision, rotational smoothness, and serious strength. This strength is only further enhanced with their new size thanks to the MQ frame, giving this reel all the capabilities to winch serious wreck fish out of cover or stand up to those drag-burning beasts whether it be inshore bonefish all the way to the pelagics offshore.
The Daiwa Saltist MQ is a major improvement from the predecessor, and expect it to be the champ of the inshore and offshore game for your arsenal.

When I whipped it out I hooked into a tuna within the first couple drops. Pulled that fish over the side and looked into my captains eyes. He stared back into mine and knew… I am the captain now.
Very nice, smooth casting...cranks well when I have a fish on. I have it on tsunami carbon inshore both worked well together Would recommend both... I'm very satisfied
Haven't used the reel yet, but planning to this June in Mexico for roosters. Saltwateredge and their staff is always so helpful and accommodating. Wouldn't buy important gear anywhere else!
Best in class customer service, they are generous with their time and knowledge as I was putting together a travel spinning rod & reel for big game. I bought from their website without talking to Saltwater Edge first, thinking I knew what I was doing. I received the gear and it didn't balance - the reel was too big for the rod. So I gave them a call and they (Paul) worked with me to get it right including a no-hassle exchange. Good people, I will buy from SWE again.
