The new Daiwa BG "Black Gold" Spinning Reel is a modern update of the well loved original which was loved for it's simple, durable performance and construction. The new one is built to last as well with a machined aluminum housing, oversized "Digi-Gear" System, solid screw in handle, a water proof drag, and a manual bail on models 4500 and larger.

I love the Daiwa BG line. They are workhorses at a great price! I have a few of them in different sizes and they are smooth and reliable.
Freezing internally after 1 season. The internal standalone rotor that cannot be disassembled or opened is frozen. Maybe this one is a lemon.
