Captain Taylor Brown @fishfreshlysalted has spent the last 18+ years stripping big flies to striped bass along the Rhode Island coastline or hiking the remote mountains of Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia in search of monster brookies, browns, and rainbows. He is an avid fisherman and fly tier specializing in light tackle and fly fishing the rocky waters off the coast of Newport. Years of chasing schools of bass, blues, bonito, and false albacore in the shallows, or tossing custom flies to slob bass hidden in submerged structures he puts customers on the fish. Brown’s expertise in navigating small boats throughout the local waters is essential when looking to score big and get around safely. He provides each angler with an experience to remember with a hands-on educational experience.
From a young age, he has been in pursuit of fish throughout the Northeast with his fly rod in hand. He enjoys all types of fishing and is always willing to try new methods or target different species. Whether chasing pelagics, salmon, or trout, he always returns in summer to the waters of Newport with hopes of landing a legendary striped bass on fly gear!
Brown is a full-time High School Department Chair of Physical Education and Coach in Washington, DC. He has brought his passion to the community and developed a school-sanctioned Fly Fishing and Outdoor Education Curriculum within the school. He leads school trips, provides casting lessons, offers fly tying tips and instruction, and is always looking to expand his passion for the outdoors further.
He is a proud husband to a fantastic wife and a father to 3 amazing kiddos.
