    Albie Shootout Postgame

Just like that, this year's Albie Shootout has already come to a close. The albie fishing was more difficult than it's been in several years. On the other side of that coin, the bonito fishing was the best we've seen since 2019, seemingly even eclipsing the numbers we saw five years ago. As far as spanish mackerel, there were a handful around here locally, but I wouldn't say we had a great run this season. They're sort of a bonus fish here in New England anyway - some years are good, most years not so much. Any time more than a few are landed, it's a positive. Overall, the bonito have by far been the dominant hardtail species all season long, particularly during the 4-week window of the tournament.  A huge thank you to all of those who participated. The money raised during this tournament goes to a great cause. We hope everybody had a great time chasing these speed demons over the last month - we know we did!
