The Essential Skills Class at The Saltwater Edge is built for novice anglers and those looking to sharpen their saltwater fly fishing techniques. Whether you're brand new or simply want to improve your casting, knots, or on-the-water strategy, this class will give you the confidence and skills to succeed.

This comprehensive program combines classroom learning with hands-on instruction, covering everything from casting mechanics to gear selection and fly presentation. Our experienced instructors maintain a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio to ensure plenty of personal attention and a high-quality learning experience.
Fly Casting Techniques – including the critical double-haul cast for distance and wind
Essential Saltwater Fly-Fishing Knots – strong, simple, and effective
Choosing the Right Gear and Tackle – rods, reels, lines, leaders, and more
Fly Demonstrations – how to properly present saltwater flies
Fly Selection Strategy – match the hatch for different saltwater species
