Bull Bay Karbine Spinning Rod

Carbon fiber blank. SS316 marine guides. Lakeland, Florida built.

The Bull Bay Karbine is the lightweight inshore rod built in Lakeland, Florida for serious inshore anglers, from charter captains to weekend warriors. The carbon fiber blank with composite-infused tip section delivers the right balance of lightweight feel and rugged durability. Double-locking carbon fiber finger-touch reel seats give you direct blank contact for real sensitivity. SS316 marine-grade double-footed tangle-free guides handle braid friction without grooving. Rubberized gimbal butts keep the rod secure in rod holders and comfortable in your hand during big-fish fights. Extended full EVA grips give you leverage when you're trying to put the brakes on a charging fish. Available in twelve models from 6'6" to 7'10".

Rigging & Use

  • 6'6" / 7' (17-20 lb class): light inshore, snook, redfish, schoolie striper — 3000-class reel
  • 7'6" (20-25 lb class): the everyday inshore rod — mid-size inshore — 4000-class reel
  • 7'6" / 7'10" (30-40 lb class): bigger fish, jetty work, trophy inshore — 5000-6000 class reel
  • SS316 guides are the saltwater-spec choice — won't pit or corrode after seasons of salt exposure
  • Pair with 20-30 lb braid and a 30-40 lb fluoro leader for most inshore work

Why We Like It

USA-made inshore rods at $219-$239 with this build quality are increasingly rare. Bull Bay builds these one at a time in Florida with the kind of attention to detail that production rods from offshore manufacturers can't match. The SS316 marine-grade guides are the saltwater-spec choice for a reason — they'll outlast the typical guide-set on competing rods by years. The 7'6" 20-class is the rod we point most everyday inshore guys toward.
