Daiwa US 2025 Salt Pencil

Color: Chartreuse Head Mullet

Daiwa US 2025 Salt Pencil 110F

Hybrid pencil-popper. Wire-through build. 4 1/3" of topwater chaos.

The Daiwa Salt Pencil 110F is the hybrid pencil-popper for anglers who want walk-the-dog action plus the splash-and-gurgle that draws fish from further out. The open mouth and flared gills kick out extra water on every twitch, creating the panicked-baitfish action that triggers reaction strikes from stripers, blues, and false albacore. At 110mm and 0.65 oz, it casts a mile in wind, and the 1.2mm wire-through harness with thickened ABS body means it holds up to the worst the saltwater can dish out. Five colors covering everything from natural bait to hot attractor patterns.

  • #4 treble hooks (factory) — upgrade to VMC 9626PS or Mustad 9430-DS for big fish

Rigging & Use

  • Work the rod tip in short downward twitches to "walk the dog" — rhythm matters more than speed
  • Long pause every 4-5 twitches — many fish hit on the pause
  • Chart Head Mullet and Chart Head Sardine: the everyday Northeast colors
  • Red Head: classic striper color for stained water and low light
  • Max Laser: the bright attractor for choppy water and bright sun
  • Best with 30-50 lb braid and a 25-40 lb fluoro leader
  • If you're seeing follows but not hits, swap to a single in-line hook on the rear — helps with hook-up ratio on short-strikers

Why We Like It

Topwater plugs at $20 with this build quality are rare. The wire-through construction is what separates this from cheaper topwaters — the wire takes the load, not the plastic body, which means the plug stays intact when a 30-inch bass crushes it. The hybrid action is also legit: it's not quite a Yo-Zuri Hydro Pencil and not quite a Daiwa Slik-Pop, but it gives you the best parts of both. We're selling these as fast as they come in, and the Chart Head colors are gone first every time.
