A mix between a deceiver, a hollow fly, and a flatwing. The Cutty Retriever got its origins around Cuttyhunk Island as a flatwing and was tweaked over time to fit the needs of the fishing in the area. More bulk was added to increase longevity (but not decrease casting ability) and drawing power to the fly, as well as a larger overall profile. A bigger fly for bigger fish, these flies are tied on 3/0 Ahrex Bluewater hooks for everything from big bass to schoolie tuna. A long shank off the back of the hook helps keep the hackles from fouling.
